Nicole Alfred, a junior at Rancho Cucamonga High in California, placed ninth in the Division 1 girls final by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:51.3 at Woodward Park in Fresno at the CIF State Cross Country Championships. Alfred improved from a 22nd-place performance last season.
